Written when I was 23.
lyrics
A pain inside, a hurt so bad
Like a chain tight round my heart
He looks at me with empty eyes
A face so white just like he’d died
My dear brother you’re killing me
Please come back, you’re welcome see
He walks away, my voice unheard
My heart sinks, a tear I hide
I remember the good old days
Little boys’ laughter and summer games
Blue eyes sparkle, shiny fair hair
I smile in fondness, the memory’s saved
My dear brother, where did you go?
I lost a friend for a man unknown
Snared by the tempter with chemical gain
I weep within as my brother is slain
Now he turns to me, his eyes begging
"Help me my brother, I think I’m dying"
Reaching out he grasps my hand
"I can do it!" His praises I sing
My dear brother lean on me
I will cure the killing disease
Take my god, his love you’ll need
Nurse you back, for you I’ll breathe
The pain is lifted, the hurt is gone
My heart is free to feel again
He looks at me with a smile in his eyes
A tear of happiness. “Praise God,” he cries
My dear brother I love you so
Stay with us, please don’t go
Bring back the laughter of old summer games
My dear brother - part of me always
